An invitation from ACLEA President Jeanne Heaton

The ACLEA History Special Committee, chaired by Mark Carroll and Donna Passons, was recently appointed to identify milestones in ACLEA’s history, to collect information from members in the form of memoirs, anecdotes, and comments, and to collate these materials as a resource for future members. Toward that end, our ACLEA website recently opened up a Forum where I encourage all ACLEA members to post experiences, reminiscences, and “firsts” that the Committee can use in its work. Please note that your contributions may be referenced, paraphrased, or even directly quoted in the final product of the committee—all with attribution, of course. When you do post, please note the year you first joined ACLEA.

How to Join the Discussion

  1. Make sure you are logged in to the ACLEA website, or you won't have the ability to comment or post.
  2. Navigate to the ACLEA History Forum > An ACLEA First discussion thread.
  3. Use the "Reply" feature at the top of the forum page or submit your memory in the "Quick Reply" text box at the bottom of the page.

If you have questions, please contact the ACLEA office at

Special thanks to our committee chairs and our committee members, Susan Blair, Larry Center, Frank Harris, Greg Smith, and Pat Nester, for their work on this important project.  And thanks you to you, our members, for once again supporting the Association for Continuing Legal Education.
