COVID 19 Message from the ACLEA EC
Tuesday, March 17, 2020
We in the ACLEA community are one another’s greatest assets. Let’s draw upon our collective expertise, provide support through our listservs, and share our social distancing strategies. Now is a great time to inform, inspire, and strengthen each other, just as we always do when we gather for conferences.
We encourage members to seek out reputable scientific and governmental resources to inform your decisions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updates information as it becomes available at http://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/summary.html.
The ACLEA Executive Committee urges all members to follow the evolving guidelines from governments and health experts. All gatherings are strongly discouraged, and in many places banned, so many of us are scrambling to cancel and repurpose programming through May. The impact on CLE of this necessary prohibition is profound from an operational, financial, and human standpoint. The best way to return to normal business in the future is to successfully manage these outbreaks now.
What help would you like? As with all adult learning, responding to the needs of our customers and members is critical. Just as your members are your greatest resource, you are ACLEA’s heart and soul. Let’s help each other and share what is working, and what pitfalls we have encountered. Are attorneys embracing the need for CLE during this time? What is helping your staff remain cohesive and productive while working from home? What technology is readily available to facilitate our online interactions with customers and team members? How do we support our volunteers during this turbulent time?
We encourage members to use the listservs to exchange information with one another, including sample messaging, and search the ACLEA website for topics like:

In the meantime, our members need the education and resources we provide. More than information, our members also may be seeking dialogue, support, and community and CLE platforms are an ideal place for people to reach out to one another.
In the coming days, ACLEA volunteers will work to provide information to our members, keeping in mind we are still getting our feet under us at our own shops. Please be patient with us. If you are available to help us with resources for our members, please reach out to any one of us on the ACLEA Executive Committee: https://www.aclea.org/page/leadership_main
Take care and stay well.
