Mid Year and Annual Meeting Planning Committees

Planning Committee for the  Mid Year and Annual Meeting

ACLEA Awards Committee

This committee evaluates submissions for ACLEA's "BEST" Awards in 5 categories: Best Marketing, Best Program, Best Publication, Best Use of Technology, and Public Interest. Members should have extensive experience in one of the above categories.

Executive Committee

Current Executive Committee/Board of ACLEA

Executive Leadership SIG

The Executive Leadership SIG provides an informal forum for those who are in top leadership positions in CLE organizations to share concerns, strategies, resources and problems. Luncheon discussions at ACLEA mid-year and annual meetings have been a primary venue for information exchanges, and members have contributed to many workshop sessions on various leadership topics at the same meetings.

Exhibitors & Sponsors Committee

This committee coordinates exhibitors and sponsors for ACLEA meetings. Members are responsible for maintaining past and developing new exhibitor and sponsor contacts and for securing underwriting for events and programs at ACLEA meetings.

In-House SIG

Law firms and other organizations that develop and conduct continuing legal education programs internally primarily for the benefits of their own employees.

International SIG

This SIG focuses on issues relating to continuing legal education in jurisdictions around the world and provides updates on current international CLE trends. This SIG also encourages participation from non-North American ACLEA members.

Law Schools SIG

Law schools and affiliated organizations that develop and conduct continuing legal education programs for the benefit of alumni, faculty, students, and employees of that law school as well as for the legal community.

Local & Specialty Bars SIG

City, county, and similar bar associations and other special-interest legal organizations that develop and conduct continuing legal education programs primarily for the benefit of their own members or for lawyers in a specialized practice area.

Mandatory CLE Committee

The focus of this committee is mandatory CLE requirements in U.S., Canadian, and other jurisdictions. The committee maintains a relationship with CLEReg, the Continuing Legal Education Regulators Association formerly known as ORACLE.

Marketing Awards Subcommittee

Marketing SIG

Marketing topics enter discussions across many Special Interest Groups but they have center stage at the Marketing SIG meetings and lunches where members are directly responsible for the marketing strategies and operations that ensure both healthy consumer support for their CLE products and services and profitability for their organizations. Our meetings and discussions focus on keeping current with techniques and strategies for members who are responsible for sophisticated marketing operations as well as mentoring our newer members in devising successful marketing programs for their organizations.

Membership Committee

Nationals SIG

Organizations that develop and conduct continuing legal education programs on a broad range of topics in multiple locations throughout a nation or country for the legal community in general.

Communications Committee

The work of the committee  is focused  on identifying topics, themes, and authors and the content generated through this process may be used not only for ACLEA’s newsletter, but also other communications channels. Between the Online Community Committee, the Communications Committee (formerly the News Editorial Committee) and Ewald’s Communications and Technology contact, content will be developed to support ACLEA’s goals of developing community through its website and other social media channels. The work of the committee also supports ACLEA and its members in their commitment to the well-being of the general public, including corporate social responsibility ideals. This may be done by identifying any public interest issues, trends, and topics of relevance to the committee and keeping members informed about these.

Program Awards Subcommittee

Programming SIG

ACLEA members who are responsible for designing and developing conferences, seminars, and workshops have a unique forum where they can discuss topics, exchange ideas, share insights (and some laughs too!) in an open and collegial environment.

Public Interest Awards Subcommittee

Publications Awards Subcommittee

Publications SIG

Books are us. The Publications SIG comprises a significant portion of ACLEA members who share a common interest in legal publishing. Whether we publish our books on paper or electronically, we all endeavor to produce high-quality legal information that is accurate and up-to-date, in formats that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The Publications SIG provides a forum for exchanging ideas and experience to help each of us achieve that goal. Our members include publications directors, legal and technical editors, information technologists, production staff, product managers, and marketers. We encourage anyone with an interest in legal publications to join us.

State & Provincial Bars SIG

State, provincial, and similar bar associations and other currently or historically affiliated nonprofit organizations that develop and conduct continuing legal education programs on a broad range of topics primarily for the benefit of the member of that bar.

Technology Awards Subcommittee

Technology SIG

Although every CLE provider is concerned with technology issues both operationally and in the realm of products and services, the Technology SIG tends to draw those who are directly charged with designing or selecting, implementing and maintaining the technology solutions that reach all aspects of how we develop, market and deliver CLE and operate our CLE organizations. Our meetings and exchanges typically explore the latest developments in technology that will affect our role as CLE providers and how to respond to the challenges of adapting relevant applications to our existing operations.

Vendors and Speakers SIG

Independent CLE providers, vendors, and professional speakers.
